Fast-rising Austin Band to Team Up with GHOST and BLOOD CEREMONY for North American Tour ; European Tour and Appearance at 2012 Roadburn Festival Announced
Austin, TX based dark rock band ANCIENT VVISDOM(pronounced: Ancient Wisdom) recently released its debut album A Godlike Inferno via Shinebox Recordings. The much talked about LP was recorded the album at Austin’s The Bubble Studio (Built to Spill, Explosions in the Sky, Mammoth Grinder) and delivers “a dark, enlightening foresight into the future of humankind.” Today, Decibel magazine premieresAVV‘s new music video — for the stunningly catchy song “The Opposition“. ANCIENT VVISDOM will embark on its first North American tour this coming January as hand-picked openers for Sweden’s mysterious GHOST. The highly anticipated “true occult rock” tour will also include support from Toronto doom rockers BLOOD CEREMONY and promises to be one of underground music’s first bona fide touchstones of the New Year. The GHOST / BLOOD CEREMONY / ANCIENT VVISDOM tour will kick off on January 18 at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City and will run through February 2 in Los Angeles. All three bands were recently spotlighted in a story titled “Occult rock: do you believe in black magic?” by the UK national daily newspaper The Guardian(read here).
In additional ANCIENT VVISDOM news, the band has announced a spring European tour in conjunction with an appearance at the 2012 Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, Holland. AVV will perform on April 12, the opening night of next year’s fest (which sold out in an incredible 7 minutes!) and take the stage alongside like-minded acts such as Agalloch, Christian Mistress, Killing Joke and SWANS. In its announcement of AVV‘s confirmed performance, Roadburn called the band “honest, accoustic driven, pagan camp-fire doom (not unlike early death rock or neo-folklore) complimented by lyrics ranging from mysteries of the occult, paganism, satanic philosophy, and forbidden knowledge.” (see full press release here)

About ANCIENT VVISDOM:
ANCIENT VVISDOM took shape in 2009 when former INTEGRITY members Nathan Opposition and Michael Jochum joined forces with IRON AGE bassist Justin “Ribs” Mason. The trio immediately began sharpening their darkened craft using acoustic guitars to create music with an organic connection to the nefarious rites they begat while incorporating electric guitar effects, synth sounds, vocal harmonies and abstract percussion to give a deeper, ethereal quality to their minimalist arrangements. Nathan Opposition‘s powerfully honest voice casts lyrics that conjure “mysteries of the occult, paganism, satanic philosophies and forbidden knowledge”. As word about the band’s infectious sound spread throughout Austin, ANCIENT VVISDOM began performing live and soon became a favorite opener for like-minded touring acts including SWANS, Scott Kelly (of Neurosis) and Wino. The band created a huge buzz at the 2011 SXSW music festival when they opened for similarly subvert legends EyeHateGod and Pentagram to racous response. In early 2011, the band issued a one sided split 12″ LP with convicted cult leader Charles Manson (see here) and in June of the same year released its debut album A Godlike Inferno to shining fan and critcal acclaim.
